MICHAEL SMITH-VIOLINIST

Mike Smith has played weddings for many years both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles including flute, harp and piano. He loves playing, performing, and always looks forward to being part of that special day.

Mike’s love of music has ranged from classical to americana to avant-garde. He has been an active member in various musical groups including The Dirt Bros, The Larval Orchestra, Jolly Llama, and ML Lielbler and the Magic Poetry Band. Along with the records made with these groups and assorted studio sessions, Mike has also recorded with Detroit Techno giant, Carl Craig and the Innerzone Orchestra.

In the spring of 2008, Mike performed the violin lead in Stagecrafter’s performance of Beauty and the Beast. He has leant his talents to various cabaret performances sponsored by the German American Heritage Foundation, and participates in annual fund raising events for cystic fibrosis along with the other members of the Dirt Bros.

Mike lives in Livonia with his wife Amy, two cats, Sylvia and Quinn, and three dogs, Caleb, Rina and Oslo.
